About this course

The Diploma in TEFL course is a 120 hour training course for teachers of English as a Foreign Language.

It is suitable for existing teachers as well as student teachers. All we ask is that you have a good level of English and a good knowledge of grammar. If you think you may need to top up your English skills, please take our English course at level C2 first. This will provide you with the required English language skills.

Your Course

Your Diploma in TEFL course is divided into 9 sections. Section 1, Introduction, is the document you are reading right now.

Section 2 is a very large part of the course. It is, in fact, our complete Diploma in Teaching course. We have included this because we wanted to ensure that you have the best possible start to your career in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It gives a very detailed insight into what it means to be a good teacher, how to create and deliver successful lessons, classroom management, how to deal with difficult students, and much more. There are no assignments for this part of the course, as we really want to concentrate on Teaching EFL in this course. However, you must read the materials and fill in your personal development journal. Of course, we will be discussing any questions you have regarding any materials in this section during our regular online sessions.

Sections 3 to 8 concentrate on Teaching EFL. Please work through all the materials and submit your assignments. In total, you are asked to submit 3 teaching videos of 5 minutes length each. There are 11 assignments for you to complete and submit. There is no end-of-course assessment/test.

Once you have passed all assignments and the assessment, you will receive your two Diploma Certificates - one issued by Frisby College and one issued by CPD. You will also be able to use our ‘Certified EFL Teacher’ logo and be included in our Teacher Database on our website, if you wish.

This course is self-paced, so you can take as long as you need. We recommend you allow around 10 weeks if studying part time, but you could easily complete the course within 2 weeks if you are studying full time. We aim for all learners to have finished the course after 30 weeks, but don't worry if you need a course extension - we will arrange it.

How will the Diploma in TEFL course help me with my career?

Our Diploma in TEFL course is a comprehensive teacher training course. The course has been designed by Martin Frisby and his team, using over 23 years' experience in teaching and designing international training courses. I don't have classroom teaching experience, can I still take this course?

Yes, you don't need to be working in a classroom in order to take this course. However, you will need to provide us with short teaching videos - this does not need to be in a classroom setting. You could ask a friend to be your student and teach on a one-to-one basis. The important issue is for us to see how you interact with a learner.

I am a qualified teacher, why should I take this course?

Continuous professional development is the most important feature of your career. Many of our learners are qualified teachers who have benefited enormously from the course! Please read the course testimonials, or contact us for the longer version of these, to see how two of our mature learners have benefited.

I am not a qualified teacher but I'm interested in teaching. Is this course for me?

Yes, absolutely! This course will give you a brilliant foundation for your future career.
